The Stuff I Ban Part 2: Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop

Time for another peek into the Man Boobz “Trash” folder!

Regular commenters here may have come across the comments of an MRA/MGTOWer calling himself justeunperdant, who has graced the comments section here with sarcastic if often quite surreal remarks which are enhanced, I feel, by his poor command of the English language.

Here’s one of his perplexing little gems (and no, it doesn’t make any more sense in context):

just1

Here’s one that’s slightly less perplexing, though it seems to be based on the notion that Title IX isn’t a law but is actually the name of some dude:

just2

But what you don’t realize is that not all of Mr. justeunperdant’s comments see the light of day. For example, several days ago he tried to post the following comment:

just3

The problem here wasn’t the comment itself, which is fairly typical of MRAs who visit the site; it was that he attached a video that evidently showed pictures of Jodi Arias, now on trial for the murder of her boyfriend, dragging around his dead body. Not particularly wanting such a graphic video up on Man Boobz, I sent justeunperdant’s comment to the trash.

This made him mad:

just4

I didn’t let that one through either. He keeps posting comments; I keep tossing them in the trash.

just5

When MRAs suggest I delete comments because I “can’t handle the truth,” this is the sort of “truth” they’re talking about.

  1. @Pecunium, nope, you won fair and square, just got in before I saw Katz’s post : ) I’m a local girl, got stuck on the old (red) bridge when I was 6 or so and was too scared to come down! The Huntington is one of my favorite spots on this earth.

  2. I visited the Huntington in ’09 but didn’t have time to visit the Japanese garden, alas.

I loved the Gainsborough of Karl Friederich Abel sitting composing with his dog snoozing under the table. :)

  3. I don’t remember that Gainsborough!

  4. De-lurking for the WoW convo:
Most progression raid guilds these days will not take players who don’t have a certain core set of add ons (boss timers, threat metres), because otherwise, it severely cripples play ability.

I actually think that the cross-realm dungeons took a lot away from the game. I mostly leveled as a healer in dungeons, and even though I hated spending all my play time for the day trying to find a group that may or may not work, by the time I hit max level, I had a reputation on my server and had a friends list full of people I could group with. If a player was an ass, or a loot ninja, or whatever, they got a reputation for that, and it followed them. With the current system, the whole anonymity seems to bring out the worst side of some people, and the vote-kick system is pretty unreliable. And if they are someone I like playing with? Probably never going to see them again, unless I switch servers. With LFR especially, I think the game has shifted away from the social aspect and entirely focuses on getting geared.

  5. Maybe it’s not on permanent display?

  6. Go to pick up scripts, have thread explode!

LBT — my loaches are my babies, and that aside, I’m careful not to put things in tanks with things that might be a threat to them (I think my brother might still be upset that I won’t get a bichir.)

  7. Good job, Pecunium and Heathenbee! And fistbump to locals!

I was just there with our friends and their 3-year-old; she kept repeating the mellifluous phrase “humongous cactus” (in the desert garden, natch).

  8. *Fistbumps* And how is the aloe bloom this winter, is it a good one?

  9. RE: Argenti

HOLY FUCKBALLS WE HAD A BICHIR ONCE! That thing was a demon, even by OUR fish tank standard. Most of the fish we had we’d netted out of the local creek, so aggression was definitely a thing, but like, two fish went missing within the first week of the bichir’s arrival, so we decided it had to go. We put it in its own little tank for return…

…AND IT PULLED A FREE WILLY. I found it thrashing on the floor. That was seriously not a fish. It was a demonic entity that had possessed a vaguely fishy form.

The loaches didn’t die from Demonic Fish, though. They got some illness, weird pale spots around their gills.

  10. Yes, the aloes are looking very nice. This has been a tremendous growing season. They are also absolutely overgrowing my yard! Same friends grow aloes in pots and when they get too crowded, they break them up and give them to me, but I’m going to have to tell them to stop because soon there won’t be room there either.

  11. Sorry Argenti! LBT: clown loaches are a little sensitive to pH and some people struggle with them, while others find them easy. They just grow SO BIG or else I’d have some… one day, when I have my 800 litre (210 gal) tank. *sigh*

I had a friend that kept a bichir with clown loaches, but this *was* an 800L tank and she was very good with her babies. She had a two 800L, a 600L and 150L for the kids. Oh and a 40L marine nano. And some breeding tanks. Her fish were amaaazing. Had to downsize though. :(

  12. Humongous cacti is definitely another band name.

  13. If it’s that good a year, then the hummingbirds ought to be spectacular. You might even see a Costas.

  14. @Cadence yes, the cross-realm grouping was one factor that decreased the enjoyment of the game for me. Another was when all the city general chats got linked. I liked having general chat turned on as I often found gear, or mats, being sold relatively cheaply that way.

  15. I haven’t spotted a Costas yet. The only one I recognized at the garden was a female rufous, but I didn’t have my binoculars (and you need lightning-like reflexes to spot a hummingbird with binoculars anyway).

  16. LBT — demon fish is right, I’d think they’d need a dedicated tank because afaik they’ll eat anything that fits in their mouth.

As for the loaches, yeh, they’re pH sensitive but “They got some illness, weird pale spots around their gills.” Sounds like velvet, as I swear by mardel treatments, maracide for that (no I don’t know that off the top of my head, but I’m next to the 29g so I looked it up ^.^ )

Testing loaches sucks though, they’re scaleless and extra sensitive.

hrovitnir — they grow real slow, I’ve had 5~ year old ones in a 55g without issue. I wouldn’t try less than 55g, too hard to keep the pH stable, but 55g works well enough. Sure, bigger is better, but 55g works for awhile. Those monster ones are 10~ or older. Oversize the filter though, I’m using a fluval 305 on that tank, it’s rated for up to 75g.

  17. Only hummingbird I’ve ever seen was at the Huntington! I had no idea they lived in California. :)

  18. Testing loaches? Treating loaches *sigh*

  19. Only hummingbird I’ve ever seen was at the Huntington! I had no idea they lived in California.

If you grow flowers in LA, you can’t keep them away! (Not that you’d want to.)

  20. I haven’t spotted a Costas yet. The only one I recognized at the garden was a female rufous, but I didn’t have my binoculars (and you need lightning-like reflexes to spot a hummingbird with binoculars anyway).

The trick is to watch for a little bit, without the binos. They are small, and fast. They need to regularly eat, and cool off. So (esp. true of the males) they have haunts. Spot where they rest, and then train the glass on them.

    That’s how I shot <a href =http://www.flickr.com/photos/pecunium/2282050431/sizes/o/in/set-72157603863314737/ this oneand <a href =http://www.flickr.com/photos/pecunium/2282607662/in/set-72157603863314737 this one

This one, <a href =http://www.flickr.com/photos/pecunium/2890361611/sizes/o/in/set-72157603863314737/ is the same sort of tactic, but involved knowing what blossoms were being used as food.

BTW, prints are available, if anyone wants wall/desk art.

  21. I don’t know what happened but, I had some sort of “blockquote fail”.

That’s how I shot this one and this one.

This one, is the same sort of tactic, but involved knowing what blossoms were being used as food.

BTW, prints are available, if anyone wants wall/desk art.

  22. Kitteh’s Calif. is (for some) hummingbird heaven. A number of, otherwise, migratory hummingbirds have made parts of Calif. permanent homes.

I miss hummingbirds (they don’t even visit NYC).

  23. All very nice! I’m sure I’ll get lots of practice this spring when I have some flowers.

  24. They’re great photos. I have a default Windows 7 landscape background that changes every (??? couple of hours). I would be interested in using some of your hummingbird photos as an alternative.

  25. I think maybe the comment about cat boxes and rape was another iteration of “feminists think everything is rape these days!”, but I could be applying meaning where there is none. Also, is it me, or has Justin gotten less coherent as time goes on? I could swear his earlier posts were more intelligible.

@Argenti, if I may ask, what’s your beef with Alcoholics Anonymous?

  26. @pecunium, oh gosh, I didn’t realise you were a professional photographer. I would have written something that came across less trite if I had realised that earlier.

  27. “I miss hummingbirds (they don’t even visit NYC).”

Go upstate, they’ve definitely got them in the Catskills (I’ve got an aunt up that way). Lovely photos though, way better than my attempts!

“@Argenti, if I may ask, what’s your beef with Alcoholics Anonymous?”

My father is of the “I’m a drunk, not an alcoholic, alcoholics go to meetings” — my mother’s threatened to leave (repeatedly) if he won’t quit drinking…etc. So it isn’t AA per se, but the association with my father >.<

  28. @Argenti I’m sorry to hear that.

  29. Gah! Argenti, I’m wondering if your father has anything going for him apart from being your progenitor!

  30. @Argenti, I made scones again today, so an ethereal cheese scone is winding its way through the intertubes as I type. Hugs if you need them. :)

  31. Re: cross-realm grouping

I’ve actually found recently that with a tiny bit of effort, you can begin to recreate the old feeling of actually meeting people and making friends through dungeons. Nowadays with the Battletag system you can actually friend people in your parties and play with them later without having to give your real name and email address. So when I’m feeling particularly social in a group, I’ll say something (like joke about the encounter or compliment somebody’s transmog) and if they seem nice enough, at the end I’ll ask people to friend me. Then later on if I see one of them on, I can ask if they’d like to queue with me or do dailies or whatever.

You don’t have the whole blacklisting of assholes part but it can be used to make friends again now that there is cross-realm zone and grouping technology outside of LFG.

  32. And speaking of battle tags, I know I’m mostly a lurker here but if anybody wants to friend me i’m dontpanic#1295 :-)

  33. Thanks guys! And no, he really doesn’t have much going for him, didn’t even manage to give me the ginger genes! Well, the red hair anyways.

Hmm, I do have part of my brain hard-wired to some “must prove I’m wrong” circuit, so my depressive “I’m a failure” gets a round of “no, he’s an asshole”…making things better in comparison is something I guess?

And mmm, scones! Ethereal ones no less! (Ether and Aertheri are the same root, except mine’s got a typo’ed r thrown in :) )

  34. So, what would the Latin be for Ethereal Cheese Scones?

  35. Kiwi Girl: Sincere appreciation is never trite. If you want to just use the images as they are on Flickr, feel free.

If you want finer resolution (i.e. a tiff at 300 dpi), we can work something out. It won’t be too expensive; and there will be a small watermark.

  36. Kitten — I’m not sure there is a Latin word for cheese, and there definitely isn’t one for scone (not Classical Latin anyways, you know any Pecunium?)

Google’s saying “aetherium caseus Sconam” — treating scone as a name (ok, that works), aetherium seems correct, it’s second declension neuter so that works — aetherium would be normative, my nym is genative. But I have no fucking clue what caseus is and can’t find it in my usual Latin dictionary — casus and some similar words are downfall, death, etc…not very tasty — but caseus would have the e in the root and I just can’t figure out GF google’s doing.

Pecinium do you have a clue wtf google translate is on about?

Please ignore any typos, I just put the violin down and my fingers are a bit “fine motor control? Why should we?!”

  37. My dictionary has “caseus” as “cheese,” which makes sense because it’s the root word for all our Romance-language words for cheese (queso, casein, etc).

  38. Caesus is cheese (root for queso, the root for Cheese might be related, but it might be germanic.. Käse).

  39. And those Romans called themselves civilised … ;)

“Google’s saying “aetherium caseus Sconam” — treating scone as a name (ok, that works),”

Now I’m thinking of the Scone of Stone.

  40. Lol, apparently my dictionary just sucks! In that case aetherium caseus sconam does work — scone’s only capitalized because google was treating it as a proper noun, so just swap that and it works.

Why the fuck isn’t cheese in my dictionary? I’m using one of the university online ones too (that’s probably why)

  41. FYI, there as a couple drive by trolls on the FAQ, but I just got katz’s CSS up on my actual computer, so could someone else handle them? I want to, but Pierre’s smashing hat comes first!

  42. Pecunium, you’re not telling me that Käse doesn’t come from the Latin, are you?

  43. I’m not sure. Germanic has (because of Merovingia/Carolingia) some oddities, and “cheese” is an old enough word it might predate the separation of slavic/latinate/germanic.

Looking at my sources: PIE is Kwat (which is the source for the slavic, “kvass”). The germanic root is kāsijaz, which seems (to me) to probably be a latin influenced change to the root (since the germanic tribes came from the area which was the apparent point of origin for the PIE; the region which is now South Central Ukraine).

So, not, I’m not (quite) telling you it doesn’t come from the latin, but rather that the germanic word’s roots aren’t completely clear (and where the French get “fromage” is a complete mystery).

  44. I also see that we have two threads near 750, and one past 1,300 comments right now.

  45. Fromage is to shape or form. So they started with the curds (smear cheese) and once they shaped and pressed it wala peanut butter sandwich cookie it was fromage cheese.

  46. Yes, but why they abandoned a word they’d been using, and displaced another word (the frankish), for that, when everyone else who had been speaking latin went with some variant on caesus is what I meant.

  47. To anyone who saw Pierre in the last ~15 minutes, my apologies, I’m done breaking him now!

  48. Love that pine tree background!

  49. Cupcakes and (presumably) scented candles!

  50. So no one saw my issues getting the next/prev text and images to line up…excellent [insert mad science finger tapping here]

Feel free to yell at me if anything is broken/weird!

  51. On websites looking weird: are the commenter names on this site displaying in a thinner or smaller font for anyone else?

Also, @ Katz and/or Argenti: my ‘nym is all in lowercase and it looks really wrong to me seeing it with a capital L anywhere. It’s on the AVFP site as “Lowquacks” twice, once in the description for Cat Conics 2 and once on the credits page. If it’s not some bothersome complicated process to change and whoever’s responsible for making these decisions isn’t too much of a capitalisation conservative, could I be lowquacks rather than Lowquacks?

  52. “On websites looking weird: are the commenter names on this site displaying in a thinner or smaller font for anyone else?”

Here or Pierre? If here, no, and I don’t know why they would be; if Pierre I must’ve broke it >.<

Will look into the capitalization thing now though

  53. Thank you! Seems minor, I know, but seeing it like that made me feel like what a David who is normally David or Davey being called Dave might feel like.

    That is one annoyed-looking kitty.

  54. Lol, never mind then, damned you’re fast katz!

  55. Katz has done it! No, font changed here at Man Boobz. It’s fixed now - comments seem to get subtly borked every now and again here anyway, presumably because we haven’t given enough burnt troll offerings to the Blockquote Gods or something.

  56. I can’t imagine trolls getting burned any more frequently than they already are. Lots of people around here are sick burn specialists!

  57. Cat conics! :D :D

lowquacks, do you prefer it all lowercase when starting a sentence like that? <—

  58. Argenti, if you are still tinkering, the tables on the cast and credits pages could totally use some love, since I made the inadvisable decision to set those up myself.

  59. @Kittehs

Yes, but if that’s too heartbreaking to do for any traditionalists around here I won’t mind.

  60. Eh, makes for one less pushing of the shift key. ;)

  61. Cast, credits and archive all given some love! Oh the huemanatee!

  62. I try to keep names as they are displayed (though I screwed up wordsp1nner yesterday. I don’t have a strong preference one way or the other, though I tend to think capitalised is better; it being my name.

  63. You don’t mind capitalized? Lovely, my auto correct learned it that way >.<

  64. Kitteh’s: I don’t think about the pushing of the shift key. I have to sort of interrupt myself to avoid doing it for names.
