Considering MEN invented elevators and the electricity to power them, women should avoid MEN’s elevators and use a fucking rope instead to ascend to their rooms.
Oops! Men invented rope too. Oh well, flap your arms b!tch. Doing that might reduce all that excess energy going to your moaning mouth.

Ami, remember the ex-Facebook friend I was telling you and Spear about at Pride? The one who called one of my friends a Holocaust denier on my wall? He tried a sort of reverse version of this argument on me once - he claimed that invading the Middle East (anywhere in the Middle East) was A-OK because Muslims invented imperialistic war. (o_0 - I think Alexander the Great might have had a bone to pick with this guy.) I said, “OK, even if that’s true, which it isn’t, does it mean because the Chinese invented gunpowder it’s OK for me to shoot Alex Cheung [a mutual friend from Hong Kong] in the face?” Even he had to admit that no, it probably wasn’t.
I wish I’d taken screencaps of those Facebook chats.

Given the above, it will surprise some of the readers that this blog holds little sympathy for Inept Elevator Nerd. Asking a woman out for coffee before you’ve won her interest is bad game. Asking her out in an elevator at 4AM when she has nowhere to escape is bad game. Doing all of it with the nervousness of a beta herb who hasn’t had any for years is ZERO GAME.

Pecunium, I found “The Mesopotamians” almost by accident while listening to other “They Might Be Giants” tunes. I’m surprised that their more recent work hasn’t gotten more attention… it may be because they’re categorized as a children’s music group at this point.

Even if this were right (see the video), she (and Charles Babbage) did nothing to advance the field of computing, the Analytical Engine simply didn’t work, Charles Babbage was ahead of his time in a bad way, end of the story.
She’s totally overrated.

That’s pretty interesting, actually. So Lovelace’s merit was more as a popularizer (by being the first published programmer) and visionary regarding the use of computers (all kinds of purposes whereas Babbage just saw them as tools for math)? Probably hyperbole to say “OMG, anyone who uses a computer should thank Ada Lovelace!” but still, good on her.

I haven’t read any further than this quote

so maybe someone has already commented on it, but having been in the birth community for years, I have met several women who have both had kidney stones and given birth. The kidney stones are worse, according to them. However, according to the medpros (& my poor husband) the worst pain is from pancreatitis.
I think part of the difference is that, while birth is painful (for most of us although I actually know a few women who had painless childbirths & I’m extremely jealous) it is also something our bodies are designed/evolved to do but things like kidney stones and pancreatitis are both signs of something wrong. Plus, at least in early labour, you get breaks between contractions to recover while I get the feeling the other 2 are pretty much continuous pain.
Men invented electricity? Well shit, no wonder their so angry. They have been gods all this time!
